bye, bye mullet

Yep. Jackson is mullet-less, which unfortunately, also means curl-less. It was a tough decision, but something that had to be done. The curls were cute, when they were curly. But after he rubbed his head back and forth a few times in his car seat, it turned into a rats nest.

We were so proud of what a big boy he was sitting in that chair. A chair that also doubled as a car. He got a penguin "cape," which he wasn't too sure about. He was also a little unsure about the spray bottle and what this person was going to do with it. Once that part was done, he settled in and Jackson's first haircut progressed as smooth as possible.

I do miss the curls. And I miss that little tiny bit of baby-ness that fell away with those curls. Actually, my baby has been seeming less and less like a baby lately, more like the little BIG boy that I guess he is.

I love my puppy

This is what happened the other day when I left Jackson and Magnus back in the laundry room:

My intention was for Magnus to go into her crate so Jackson and I could head to our morning playdate. But, I guess Jackson had other ideas. What is it about a stinky, hairy, dog crate that is just irresistible to a little one? Griffin was the same way, thought it was great to crawl into the dog crate and chill.

And actually, Jackson not only loves the dog crate, but the dog bed as well. Alright, let's be honest, Jackson loves everything related to the dog, food, water, leashes, you name it. For Jackson nothing says cuddly and cozy like just getting out of the bath, all nice and clean, and running to snuggle on Mag's old hairy, doggy bed. Yuck!

And of course this drives Mom crazy! We're on our way out the door and now your covered in dog hair. Great. But a year and a half into this parenting thing, I throw my hands up, say oh well, coax him out of the crate with a dog treat (for him to give to Magnus, not to eat) and we're on our way!

Squirrel Watching
Magnus is teaching Jackson the fine art of squirrel hunting. Watch, watch, watch, watch, bark and screech as loud as you can and still be miles from catching the squirrel.

Hippity Hop

That's right, the Easter Bunny made a stop at our house this year. It's been a while! Jackson was very excited to find out what was in his Easter basket. A new glitter ball, garbage truck (he looks forward to the garbage truck's visit each Wednesday morning), a couple of books about the potty, and some special treats. Jackson thought everything was great, and he was interested in taking everything out of the basket, unlike his stocking at Christmas.

After our Easter basket fun, we headed outside for the Easter egg hunt. At first, Jackson wasn't too sure what was going on. OK, Mom, I found an egg, so what? But after a couple of demonstrations about how we find the eggs and put them into the basket, he was an old pro. He cleared the yard in minutes flat! And then he wanted to check out his loot. His favorite treat today, by far, were the yogurt covered rasins.

It ended up being an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day and Jackson played out in the backyard for the rest of the morning. Today we got a glimpse of summer and it's got me ready for more! Jackson loves to be outside, and I can't wait until we can spend every afternoon out there!

We ended our day with a delicious dinner with family, Uncle Mike, his girlfriend Kelly, and G-ma. Gruyere, asparagus tart, ham and mini tomato pies. YUM!

There was a pool at our condo in AZ, but you had to walk by the fountain first......

Baby Charlie

He's here!!!!! The newest addition to our extended family, baby Charlie Lawrence is here! Heidi had him on Tuesday, March 20th. His stats are 8 lbs. 4 oz., 21 inches and too much sweetness and cuteness to measure!

We were able to go up last weekend to meet him in person, and visit with his parents too. What a good little baby he is. He pretty much slept the whole time, waking only to eat and have his diaper changed (which he wasn't a big fan of). We were lucky because we were the only visitors he had at the time, so you better believe I maxed out my holding/snuggling time!
And it's true, you really do forget how little they are! Having Jackson to compare to now, Charlie seemed soooooo little!

And speaking of Jackson, how did he react to Charlie? Overall, I'd say he wasn't too interested, but he also didn't seem to be too jealous that Mom or Dad was holding another baby. He was pretty intrigued by Charlie at first, but he soon realized the dogs were a little more lively.

It was a great visit. Mom and Dad are already pros at this whole parenting thing! I hope we can see him again before too long. They change so much at this age!
